We are looking for a Legal Manager for a leading provider and integrator of IT solutions in Romania, with over 30 years of overall experience in the local market. The position is full-time, on-site, in Bucharest, Romania.
THE ROLE
The new Legal Manager will set up the internal legal department and take on the responsibility for the company’s legal activities in Romania. She/He will have a focus on commercial law, but will also coordinate corporate, compliance, and labour law matters and overview financing, litigations, and other legal aspects, such as GDPR. She/He will be the main point of contact between the Group and external legal partners.
Main responsibilities
- Setting up the internal legal department, developing and maintaining flows, templates, policies, and procedures;
- Advising on legal aspects of the company's business and operations strategies, ensuring alignment with commercial objectives;
- Acting as the primary legal advisor to senior management;
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams on various legal matters;
- Identifying, assessing, and mitigating legal risks in business operations, transactions, and projects;
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and legal documents;
- Monitoring and interpreting changes in legislation and regulations, and ensuring compliance, also educating employees in relevant matters;
- Advising on labour law issues and workplace policies;
- Overviewing financing projects, litigations, and all other aspects pertaining to the legal field, as needed;
- Ensuring adherence to internal compliance and corporate governance;
- Collaborating with external counsels / law firms as necessary;
- Identifying the most suitable legal partners in the market, according to specific needs (competition law, IP, etc);
- Consolidating internal and external teams.
INTERNAL CONTACTS
She/He will report to the Group’s CFO and will collaborate closely with other departments (e.g., financial, operational, commercial, HR, R&D). She/He will lead a team of 1-2 persons and various external partners.
THE CANDIDATE
Requirements
- University Law Degree and license to practice law in Romania;
- 7-10 years of experience in commercial law and negotiations, preferably as an in-house lawyer / counsel;
- Background in other practice areas (corporate, financing, labour law) is a plus;
- Very good understanding of corporate governance and regulatory compliance;
- Experience in dealing with clients in retail and/or banking is desirable;
- Ability to understand the IT industry and clients’ profiles;
- Excellent business acumen and solution-oriented mindset;
- Collaborative approach for cross-functional teamwork;
- Interest and ability to establish the internal legal function and take on a construction-focused role, with the opportunity to grow alongside the organization;
- Fluent in Romanian and English.
